SportBike West 2006 - Western Canada's Premier Sportbike Rally August 18th to August 20th 2006 |
||||
News October 19th, 06 SBW06 was the 11th annual rally and how the event has changed. What began as a grass roots event has now become a huge gathering on the cusp of becoming a festival. As each year passed the demands of the event grew and grew, beyond what one person could handle. So three years ago I brought on the Crew to help out. Five strong and yet the rally demanded more with both time and money exceeding what we had available. With all of us in different stages of life, new families growing, work changing, increased family demands, made it hard for us to volunteer the time needed to pull this event off. As SBW06 approached we all knew a cross roads was getting closer. One, which would see some soul searching and long coffee debates. Back and forth we went with ideas, solutions and thoughts, all of which were only delaying the inevitable. The rally would not continue with us at the helm and so weve come to the difficult decision to suspend SportBike West indefinitely. None of us can commit the time and resources needed to successfully accomplish the rally each year. We felt it better to end it rather than have it whimper away a shell of what it once was. To all of riders Ive come to know, I say thank you for the support and great memories. I hope well cross paths on the roads some day and talk of good times. To the industry that stood behind SBW and saw the benefit this event offered to its customers, Thank you for sharing my vision of having a sport bike event. Rubber side down Owen SportBike West. Questions or comments? Come to www.bikeland.org to discuss this and other SBW topics. August 21st, 06 Well................. SBW oh six is in the books and it was interesting for sure. The return of the poker ride went well. I had 50 bikes with me and we enjoyed some fast moving and good times. All the guided rides were well attended and ZERO crashes on all the guided rides, or maybe just one, now that I think of it. Eitherway, and excellent RALLY. The southwind, however, yeah not so much. Did every one get a load of that "pub" menu? I must say, that you guys all made your feelings clear to the southwind. Nicely done. I hope your after parties were awsome, though I was sad not to see anyone around to beer with. I have since found out that the southwind has been sold, which explains the price gouging. Gottta get every last penny outta there before they go. I was very disappointed, and made that WELL known before I left on sunday. On top of that, seems the squids were hard at it and now the local RCMP are expressing "concerns" about this event. THAT is not good. Reports came in of excessive speeding, wheelies / stoppies [though they didn't know the term it was obvious to me what they were describing] In one instance a crew member witnessed a Vendor staff member doing wheelies AND stoppies on the roads. Not exactly the kind of dealer representation I'd have expected. So now we may be back to square one with Oliver, though I've not yet confirmed that with council. Road blocks, speed traps, and inspections were all popular themes of the discussion. You know I just don't get it, you DON'T piss in your own bath water. I'll post more when I know more. The Crew. Questions or comments? Come to www.bikeland.org to discuss this and other SBW topics. August 17th, 06 So I've kept the actual poker ride route in the dark on purpose. The first stop is in Rock Creek and, obviously, we'll be heading down hwy #33 north to Kelowna. Beyond that, if you want to join in the poker ride, ride with the group. I am trying to reduce the "Joe Racer" syndrome that can occur with a large group ride. This doesn't mean you can't pass the leader or any such thing, but if you ride agressivly move to the front and try to keep some part of the posse in your mirrors. There are ample guided and self guided rides for every one to choose what turns their crank. Pelase do not join the poker ride if you intended to go flat out with your hair on fire. See y'all tomorrow!! Crew Questions or comments? Come to www.bikeland.org to discuss this and other SBW topics. August 16th, 06 So just wanted to remind every one that the final date by which you can buy a ticket with a confirmed t-shirt was Aug 1st, also that ticket sales will end today, weds at 5:pm. Any tickets that were sold after August 1st are/were not guaranteed a t-shirt. We will do our best but, this was clearly indicated on our main ticket purchase ordering page. Also a further reminder that we DO NOT physically mail a "ticket" we use a 'will call' list. This means, bring your paypal confirmation and we will have your name on our preregistration list. See you all on Friday. Questions or comments? Come to www.bikeland.org to discuss this and other SBW topics. August 14th, 06 Hey hey what the hell. Don't be buying new rubbers to come out to SBW this year, only to cook them on the way ......... my man Angus will be on site, again offering killer deals on black round ones. So if your rubber is looking decidedly shagged, save yer pennies and plan on getting retired, ha ha that sounds pretty nice about now- REtired, you know retired?ah never mind ........... where was I? Oh right, Motorcycle Tire service will be on site at the rally this year, so make sure you check out Not long now ........... The Crew Questions or comments? Come to www.bikeland.org to discuss this and other SBW topics. August 9th, 06 So we will have a limited number of t-shirts on hand for gate sales. Sizes subject to availability and first come first served. The poker ride will be leaving the Southwind at 9:am SHARP! The ride is 5 1/2 hours PLUS card stops, so that adds up to a full day of riding. We head south down to osoyoos directly from the Southwind with the first card stop being at the Rock Creek Petro Can. At the first stop you will be given your poker card pass that you will use to record your poker hand on. You MUST have your rall pass to get a poker ride pass. No SBW pass, no poker ride pass. Each time you stop you will draw a card and record it on your pass this must be initialed by an SBW crew member at EACH STOP. By the end of the ride you should have five "cards" indicated on your pass, on the front, and FIVE initials on the back. If this is not so, your hand is disqualified. Any tampering on the cards or suspicious marks, disqualified. Any initials that are not MINE, TREVORS, OR frEEks, your hand is NFG. You will not get a card until the ride leader arrives at the designated stop. So there is no benefit to racing to each stop. In fact doing that could cause you to miss a card all together. It is important that you not treat this like a race, like the bad old days of years gone by. Ride at your own pace and respect the other riders around you. If you find yourself quickly approaching a slower rider / group of riders. Pass on the left like you would pass any other vehicle on the road. Do not pass on the inside or shoulder. Honestly I shouldn't even have to mention this grade skool shit, but if previous poker rides are any indication, sadly this all needs to be said. Nobody will be impressed by your boy racer speeds and no one will want to have your baby 'cause you're such a "bad ass" on the roads. Blah blah blah, right? Well the fastest way to kill an event like this would be to be stupid on the poker ride drawing undue attention to us. Ride how you want alone, but consider the benefit of the ENTIRE group when you're out on the SBW rides. Okay Im off my podium now. Only 9 days left.. SBW Crew. Questions or comments? Come to www.bikeland.org to discuss this and other SBW topics. August 3rd, 06 Well with the return of the poker ride this year, it some how seems fitting that BGPR [Brad Gavey's Performance Riding Schools] is offering SBW a cirtificate for one full race school. Check out www.bgprschools.com for details on their skools. Would it be wrong of us to use this on the red carpet? Ah don't worry I don't think were doing the red carpet this year. Too much backlash last year sort'a took the fun out of it. >SIGH< such is the way of our society now............... So some lucky person will walk home with a full race skool comp of BGPS rubber side down oh when Questions or comments? Come to www.bikeland.org to discuss this and other SBW topics. August 2nd, 06 Dakar Ride news. Chris, our dirty dirty SportBike West Dakar guide, (he's like a long lost cousin that nobody wants to admit being related to. You know, dirt is for vegetables motorcycles are for pavement kind-a idea?) Anyway, I digress. Seems the dirt junkies are going to be leaving at 8:am >SHARP< so no hang overs for you guys! HA HA! Seems the ride is an A and a B loop and, quite naturally for me, I've lost all his emailed notes to me. Well shit. Its a dirt ride and it is leaving at 8:am. What more do we need to know? Just messing with y'all. When Chris reads this he'll send me the full dets and I'll post it up. Look for a schedule THIS WEEK, there its in ALL CAPS so now I gotta get it done. Also, it seems our on again off again love affair with the Airport is, now ON again. That's right, due to the diligence of Allison at Oliver City hall, she found us a loop hole that allows us on the airport dirt but minimum 200 meters away from the airport runway. HA so there, stuck it to the MAN!! (easy ladies, I mean that in a gender free way) Finally a loop hole that works FOR us. ha HA! This will allow our free style'rs to really go big now. I think we can expect to see some serious shit outta the boiz this year! Majik Extreme is gearing up for the week end with more off the hook pavement shredding stuff. So what else. Too much. Don't forget the Thunder Ride Saturday night, and speaking of which, the Charity Silent Auction. Well the response for this has been minimal at best with, so far, only BMW committing hard good for the table and Ducati handing over a sweaty wad of cash ($500, yeah baby love the cash.) So big props to those two and I'd expect some stuff to show up on rally day. So this has sort of been a rambling up date 'cause, well, I just have too much to do right now. Questions or comments? Come to www.bikeland.org to discuss this and other SBW topics. July 21st, 06 August 18th to 20th will prove to be some fun filled days for all who attend the rally this year. In keeping with SBW's desire to give a new stunt team the SBW venue each year, Calgary's own Majik Extreme will be heading out to come and throw down their stuff. Word from Majik is this year's event is going to be awesome. Revoluzione [Rev Imports from Calgary, AB] will also be participating in this year's event by offering test-rides on their 2007 model Aprilias and Moto Guzzis! Sign-up will be at the rally so be sure to stop by and visit them nice and early to reserve your spot. Just a reminder, online ticket sales are only available until August 13th, after that gate sales will be cash only (with first come first served t-shirts.) For more information visit www.sportbikewest.com "If you ride it, bring it." Questions or comments? Come to www.bikeland.org to discuss this and other SBW topics. July 20th, 06 oliver Airport news or lack there of .......... So it seems that FOUR months ago, when we worked out the details of SportBike West using the Oliver airport a small point was neglected to be mentioned. Now I 'spose in their defence I MAYBE should have known or asked but, you know, I don't know diddly about airport, insurance and liability. that's right that ugly 9 letter word LIABILITY and its evil twin INSURANCE. yeah, so 'parently in order for us to have access to the airport we need a specific airport liability rider that our general event insurance will not cover. So, four weeks to go and suddenly we are left scrambling for more money, which we don't have, and finding a policy. Right. So it aint happening. The airport that is. SBW2006 will still host a Free Style Moto X show but it'll be held on the SouthWind property as it has been for the last three years. DJ will be spinning some tunes in the parking lot too. Also keep your ear to the ground for poker ride info coming soon. We will be introducing a few measures to reduce the over all speed and mania that seems to plague the poker ride. k peps four weeks to go!! Oh-When SportBike West. Questions or comments? Come to www.bikeland.org to discuss this and other SBW topics. July 4th, 06 wOw, here we are some 45 days away from SBW OH Six! This is our eleventh rally to date, who'd have thunk it eh? The big question on everyone's mind is: who is the stunt team this year, In keeping with our desire to give a new team the SBW venue each year, we asked Mike Zottman's crew, Majik Extreme out of Calgary, to come and throw down their stuff. Word from Mike is this year's event is going to be awesome Also wanna remind every one of the BMW Demo rides are back. Rod from RMR will be on site doing bike prep and set up. Book your spot with Rod as soon as you get on site Last year he was busy as hell trying to fit every one in. Also new for this year, we'll be having a DJ playing some tunes all week end. Poker ride returns!! Leaving the Southwind parking lot at 8:am, though, keep your ear to the ground in case that time changes. Our ride is longer this year as we're hooking ALL the valley dealerships into one poker route. Starting with M'n M in Kelowna [via the Anarchist summit and Hwy #33] North to Vernon Motorsports. Back to Valley Motosport via Westside rd, then Kelowna Yamaha. South to the 5th stop at Penticton Honda finishing back at the Southwind via Green Mountain road, white lake road, Fairview White Lake Rd. So this adds quite a bit of distance / time to the route, hence the early start. Watch for the schedule coming out soon. Questions or comments? Come to www.bikeland.org to discuss this and other SBW topics. May 4th, 06 wOw Tickets are selling fast. One thing I would ask though, is to provide the name for each individual ticket. What I mean is, if one person is buying, say 4 tickets, to provide me with EACH person's name. Otherwise I have four with one person's name which may seem like no big deal, but when I'm trying to reconcile Tshirt sizes and # against the tickets sold, things go a stray. Thanks. Owen Questions or comments? Come to www.bikeland.org to discuss this and other SBW topics. May 2nd, 06 Ticket sales went live last night! some of you will notice a reduced ticket price for this year's event. $45.oo early ON-LINE purchase ONLY. Includes your selected tshirt size / type rally dinner, door prize draws and entry into the Poker Ride. Note we are not offering breakfast this year. Gate ticket sales will be CASH only and $55.oo with NO TSHIRT. Shirts are now only being offered to presold ticket. More news to come. Questions or comments? Come to www.bikeland.org to discuss this and other SBW topics. April 19th, 06 wOw how the hell did it become middle April already. To think I still don't even have the street bike out. Okay to the point. Tickets for the 2006 rally will go on sale, on line only, on May 1st. Ticket prices are lower this year because we felt that the morning breakfast, previously included in the price, was not being enjoyed by everyone in attendance. Also T-shirts will only be included with tickets pre-purchased ONLINE That means, if you buy your ticket, cash at the gate, there will be NO T-shirt. Every year we order extra t-shirts to cover the gate sales, and every year we have shirts left So buy your ticket on line to get your t-shirt. We are also very pleased to announce the return of the BMW test ride fleet. A big thank you to BMW for coming to play again. Last year was the first year we held a charity silent auction. Through this auction we were able to raise $1500.oo for the Oliver Food Bank. These funds were donated at Thanksgiving and were greatly appreciated. This year we are once again putting out the request for charity auction items, with BMW being the first to step up and agree to support this event. The Crew is [are?] busy working on other things for this year's event but, its too soon to get into the details. Check back in May for updates and news. Questions or comments? Once again attendance broke the 500 rider mark with the locals swelling the population of SBW to an estimated 600+. The shows were well received with Canadian Chaos providing thrills and cheers at all their shows.Kris, Regen and Rick created quite a stir with their high flying jumps and stunts. Amazing stuff for sure. The motor heads kept the Valley Pro Racing dyno going all week end with an endless parade of bikes waiting for a shot at the dyno class trophies. Watch the site for dyno results posting. Warning is here by posted to our NEXT Cheat'n Bastard Award winner. You've been sniffed out and will be called to the carpet in OH SiX. Lots of laughs were had at the door prize and awards ceremonies. My SBW Ninjas walked among you and picked up all sorts of fun stories and comments. Thank you to every one that approached the "Red Carpet" and took it all in stride. You were all GREAT sports. Most memorable moments were Kevin wining his prize and agreeing to "take it up the middle." I'll let you figure that one out. Also Chuck and Sylvia for their 'cleanest bike' award ..... NOT and who can forget Kevin's unique striping job on his F4. There were too many more to go into here. The Oliver Food Bank Charity silent auction was a great success bringing in $1000.oo They will be so grateful for everyone's generosity and support. Huge thank you, again, to KTim and Canadian Kawasaki for backing the event as Presenter. Jennifer at Buell, Chris at Triumph Canada, Chris Duff for bringing out the BMW demo fleet, Ducati North America and of course, Honda Bob, who NARROWLY escaped the Red Carpet himself. Watch for some new ideas for next year. Changes to the format and grounds layout. Can't say much now, 'cause it's too early. Dates are booked for August 18th week end which means NO rodeo and NO poetry festivals going on. No conflicts. See you all next year. The SBW Crew. Questions or comments? July 5th, 05 Okay here's the latest on the SBW Dakar ride. Direct from the source. ______________________________ Hi Owen..... This weekend (june25/26) I was in Oliver and did a little pre-riding. I would say that I got 50% of it nailed down for sure and the other half is close. Just have to do a little more exploring to link some stuff together. More than half the ride will be dirt, nothing extreme but should be challenging for a beginner and fun for an expert!! Whaaa Hooooo!!! Little glitch with one section cause about a half click goes through a farmers property. I spoke with him and there is no way we are going through so I have to find a way around or change that bit!!! I'll keep you posted! Should total about 300km as I had hoped. I think 5-6 hrs depending on the riders 7hrs tops!! I would like to have a riders meeting at 8:45am saturday morning and everyone fueled up and ready to go at 9:00am sharp. Good dualsport tires or knobby's recommended. Should see a little of almost everything except snow, lol. Talk to ya later, Chris. _________________________________________ Tickets are going FAST!!! The SBW Crew. Questions or comments? Ducati is again coming to play, with a slim chance of demo bikes. That's still an on going conversation. Honda rounds out our group of usual suspects. New to the event for this year is BMW Canada. If you haven't heard already, they are going to bring along their demo truck for this year's event. So come out and try a spin on a BMW. SBW05 marks the return of Buell Canada to the event. Big thanx to Jennifer for putting that together for me. As for details and particulars .......... to soon to go into any of that. Tickets go on sale soon. Yes I promise SOON. We're trying to get a ticket agent to handle them [like Ticket Master for example] so you could buy them at your local office or online. But BUT of greater importance that all of that .......... Council was amazed at how few complaints were raised due to the event. >Unofficially< word on the street is even the local RCMP are very satisfied with with conduct and control. Reporting only a "few issues" on the out lying roads. Many local business were very pleased with us as a group and were excited to hear of our return in 05. Speaking of which. Our return date is again on the 26th of Aug. I know many of you wanted the earlier date but that just was not possible. The Southwind was booked by a GOLF group already but we've scooped them for 2006 More on the 2006 date well ....... next year. Book your rooms now. Iron man is going as is the Cowboy gathering all on the same weekend. Lets show'm that SBW is on the same level of participation and attendance. A reminder that SBW is ALWAYS open to suggestion and comment. Feel free to email any of the Crew directly. I hope to set up a bio page soon. Finally. I want to know what, if any thing, female rally attendees want at the event. I did a ladies crop top this year, that was received sort of Luke warm. I've tired lady's rides and got the wrath of the equal rights women. Do I even NEED to do some thing female specific? I dunno so I'm putting it out to you the female riders of the rally. What do you want. Let me know while SBW05 plans are still growing and we have time to put it together. Rubber side down The Crew Questions or comments? August 12th, 04 So in response to a few threads turning up about people 'crashing the SBW party' I thought I'd just mention a few things and advise the general members of the SBW attendance policy. First off. I know some people attend the rally and don't pay. They come in mingle and mix and basically hang out. To be honest in the past I didn't mind that too much. With out the proper tickets these people were unable to gain any thing that costs money [food, door prizes, etc etc] I/we put a ton of work into this little gathering, like 18 months in advance [been working on NEXT year's rally since FEBRUARY of THIS YEAR.] So. be advised that this year, we are giving paid rally goers an "all access pass card" and lanyard to be worn around the neck during the event. We will be cruising through the groups / crowds asking to see them. IF you cannot provide one you WILL be asked to leave the property. That means, if you have a tent up? You will have to pack up and leave. If you've paid the Southwind Inn for camping, under the Inn Keepers act you are considered a trespasser as you have not paid full admission to the event, as such are in violation of the act and will be asked to leave with no refunds. Take my word for it. I am VERY intimate with the Inn Keeper's Act. Obviously we cannot stop a person from hooking up on the roads with a ride. Public roads are just that public, but SBW is a private function for people that pay good money to be there. Out of respect for that I can no longer allow "hang out" attendees. I hope you all understand. Also we anticipate having tickets for sale at the gate. Check the site often to keep track of how many, if any, tickets are left. We will do our best to not turn anyone away. Feeling-a-little-better-now-BBM Questions or comments? Come to www.bikeland.org to discuss this and other SBW topics. A few things have changed since last posting time Seems "Faster Movie" has lost interest in SportBike West and as such there will be no viewing of the movie in an 'official' capacity. I dunno what happened. Things were progressing well then the hand offs started. One thing leads to another and no communication at all. Oh well their loss. 5th Gear M/S have signed on to put together an ass kickin' street stunt demo. This will go in conjunction with the Kawasaki's Free Style MX show. Also trying to line up a Trials Demo. No word yet as to what Kawasaki has in mind for the feature door prize. I do know for SURE that they are NOT giving away a new bike this year. Hope to have the online ticket registration working ASAP. I've got my guy on the job and things are looking good. I'll try to me more consistent on the news postings. Owen SportBike West Questions or comments? Come to www.bikeland.org to discuss this and other SBW topics. March 9th, 04 WOW so much going on .......... What have we done with SBW this year. Gone and put together all the elements for one hell of a good time. That's what We've had 4 or 5 meetings with city hall and have been very successful in gaining support and resource for the event. As some of you have already guessed, Oliver has an airport Sadly the "old boys club" that is running it won't let us play in their sand box but that's okay 'cause the city councillors are the best and have graciously given us a road closure and an empty lot right beside and behind the Southwind Inn So announcement time: Kawasaki Canada is going to bring two free style MX'rs down to give us a show. We'll be having the Free Style MX show Saturday night after dinner. In addition to this we are seeking a professional street demo team to put on a showl. Now just incase that isn't enough, I've been negotiating with the producers of "Faster The Movie" [go here: www.fastermovie.com for a preview] and the local movie theatre to have a special SBW screening of this movie. Now Faster is not Hollywood Torque bullshit. This is the real deal of Moto GP on the big screen. Check it out. Reminder if you want to camp you must book a spot with the Southwind Inn. The rooms are sold out but the grass feild is still open for campers. I believe it is 5 bucks a night. Speaking of Bucks. Some of you may have noticed the price is not up yet. That's cause with all the new stuff we are putting together we had to re-evaluate the price. Now before any of you get your panties in a twist. Remember SBW has not raised its price since 2000. Now we have a new site, swimming pool, hot tub, showers, running water, pavement, pub, retaurant, and cold beer/wine store. Add to that, Free Style MX show, possible street stunt demo show, and a special movie screening ........ $5.00 increase hardly seems unreasonable. So send your comment if you feel you need to. Finally we are hoping to offer in store ticket sales so watch the web page, forums, and posters for listed participating dealers. There is more but I've not got the time to spew it out. The SBW CREW Questions or comments? Come to www.bikeland.org to discuss this and other SBW topics. February 10th, 04 Whoa. We just got back from town council meeting at Oliver and those guys are soo enthusiastic about SBW coming to town. It was a nice change to say the least. They are welcoming and encouraging community involvement with us. This all bodes well for our future with them and with the advancement of the event. I have one more meeting to do with another committee, after which I can begin to really let you all in on what we have planed for SBW04. For now you'll just have to take my word that it is going to be GREAT Took a good walk around the Southwind Inn last night [after the council meeting] and I've got to say this place is perfect. Aside from the pool, hot tub, cold beer'n wine and pub their facility is absolutely perfect for our event. There is FAR more camping available than first thought. We are checking on any sort of bylaws they may limit the numbers 'cause it looks like there's more room there than just 70 tents. I conservatively estimate room for 125 tents if not more. In addition to that, there seems some space suitable for RV type set ups [not that we get too many Trailer Queens at SBW ] The central court yard joins the pub and restaurant areas and will serve as an excellent vendor concourse and mingling area. Much like the patio are at 8 Mile did, it certainly is as big an area as we had before. In addition to that is the paved parking lot, and grass areas. We have an excellent spot for the Dyno, with ample room for trailers and parking lot displays. Kawasaki Canada has once again signed on as official Rally Presenter thanks to Tim Mass for his continued efforts to keep the Big Green K on board. Look for some exciting ideas coming from the Flying K K' that's it for now. More with in 7 to 10 days. The Crew Questions or comments? Come to www.bikeland.org to discuss this and other SBW topics. January 27th, 04 So. Much concern is being expressed about the fact that the Southwinds only has 46 rooms. Consider that the normal SBW week end hosts 470 riders. Of that only 100 or so camp [or less] That being said this means the rest of you are in motels, or B&B's. So what would you rather do. Not have a few 'cause you've gotta ride into Kelowna [15-20 minutes depending on the cops hassle factor] or WALK to your motel on 97 two blocks from SBW site? Let's not even CONSIDER drinking and riding Their on site camping is basically in a grass court yard and the areas for RV/Campers is an empty lot. Obviously 8 Mile has the camping but the trade off there is: POOL, HOT TUB, SHOWERS, BATHROOMS as in Facilities, + Pavement. check back for a comprehensive list of local motels and camping/rv sites. The Crew. Questions or comments? Come to www.bikeland.org to discuss this and other SBW topics. January 25th, 04 So the rumours are all true. SBW is set to move south AND we've moved the date BACK a week. Aug 27th is now the SBW week end date. Good bye kelowna, good bye to 8 Mile ranch. They were good to us and, short comings aside, have a pretty nice gig going there. No disrespect for 8 Mile. They served SBW well during its infancy. Say hello to Oliver. 1 1/2 hours south down 97 towards Osoyoos. We've lined up a nice 46 room hotel with a restaurant, banquet room, pub, lick'er store, LIMITED on site camping [book your spot with the hotel ASAP] and POOL. Nice PAVED parking lot, walking distance from motels all down 97. The town of Oliver is very receptive to our coming into town and seem willing to assist us in putting on a first class event. What a new experience. Details are sketchy right now 'cause we have a TON of work to do and a dozen meetings with city hall, businesses and shit like that. Owen has FINIALLY been overwhelmed with the SBW thing. So I've brought in four buddies that have helped the rally grow for past 8 years. These guys have been involved as soldiers before. Now they get promoted to making decisions and choices. Fools. If only they knew what was coming. So look for new ideas, and a fresh take on things. Look for an increased interest in activities at the rally site OTHER than the guided rides. Look for a smoother running SBW machine. Look for a new site for me. No, no I mean go and find a site and let us know where it is. Eight Mile Ranch has been great but we'd like to move for year TEN. So that's 2005. Five free tickets to SBW05 for the person that gives us the perfect site recommendation PLUS our undying gratatude and love. Er well maybe not love or not MY love. Go now my SBW ninjas and find me a place with pavement, grass, water, showers, camping, banquet hall, catering on site ..... basically every thing 8 Mile has PLUS the things they don't. It's early in the year so now's the time to send us your suggestion and ideas. IF you filled out our survey of SBW03 and indicated a desire to help out. Expect to be contacted in the coming weeks. So now the plans start to flow for SBW04, our NINTH annual event. Look for the standard SBW format with a few new tweaks and additions. SBW03 had a live band playing on Saturday night [till 2:am] but I think I'll move that to Friday. We had Kawasaki and Ducati both offering demo rides at 03. I'll be working hard to bring that back as well as some other brands. SBW it self will grow from one man [me] to a crew of five.
